Sekhasa Mining Training Institute (SMTI) is an upcoming institute with its fame on a rise due to its involvement in providing competent mining technicians at a certificate level. Currently the institute is conducting three fields of specialization .i.e.Certificate in Blasting Operations, Certificate in Drilling Operations, Certificate in Petroleum and Gaseous Explorations and certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication. Each of the programs above constitutes two years of study. Vocational Education and Training Authority is our affiliate with preliminary registration No.VET/KGR/2013/007/C.
The training of the program is due to the rapid expansion of the mineral sector in Tanzania which causes the demand of personnel to participate fully and in a profitable way in mining activities. In addition to training, the institute participates in various geoscience researches and community awareness programs on the significance of the mining sector and environmental impact of the mining activities. The vision is to deliver competent graduates who will be employed in mining industries or self-employed to boost the economy of the country and to make the institute the sole centre of Excellency in Tanzania. The institute is conducting two types of intakes with four semesters per each. The first intake will start from the month of June to July of every year, while the second intake will start from the end of the month of December to January respectively. Advertisements for the above intakes can be found on our school official websites and are normally launched three months prior to the event in different parts of the country.The institute is in Kagera region, located about 150m away from Ngara bus terminal, left hand side on the Ngara-Bujumbura Road. We are privileged to welcome youngsters from different parts of the country and beyond, irrespective of their backgrounds, tribes, colour and ethnicities to pursue their fields of interest at our centre.
